Hello
I'm contacting you from Fleetwood Lancashire in
England.
Today an original wooden fire surround has been
removed from our home that was built in 1927,as it came away from the wall a
calendar fell out (no dates, but traces of the ribbon that held the calendar
part to the picture).
The picture is 7.5inchesx9inches and mounted on
cardboard, it's title is "The Sentinel" and has Fletcher C Ransom
written on the lower left side and the words By F.C.Ransom on the lower
right side.
The picture is of a Native American astride his
white/grey horse standing on a hill with the full moon reflecting onto a
river.
I found your website and have looked for any
references to this particular picture but to no avail. Have you any
knowledge of this? I would be very interested to hear from you if you have
the time to reply.
In anticipation
Best Wishes
Pam Leadbetter

Dear Kathy
Many thanks for replying and so sorry I have
not replied sooner! As I explained we are decorating our dining room and
like all jobs it is taking a lot of our time plus we are having quite a
heatwave at the moment! so we have been having some lovely days out and
about at local "beauty spots"
I will send you a map showing you where we
live in relationship to Wales and Durham, although there is quite a
distance between North and South Wales! we are closer to North Wales. If
you have a map of Gt Britain look for Ireland then east to the Irish sea
carry on east and look for a small island called The Isle of Man, still
further east and slightly to the south look on the west coast of England
and Fleetwood is just 10 miles from Blackpool which is up the coast from
Liverpool and then you come to North Wales! Hope I haven't confused you!
I am fairly new to the computer and do
hope the scanned picture reaches you, it has come out fairly dark, I
managed to lighten it in a photo plus programme and I am sure you will
be able to do better and then the signature ,title and name will be
visible at the bottom.Just for the record there is no date on the
calender it had had one of those separate small calendars attached to
the lower part but only the remains of the satin ribbon were there. We
know for sure the house was built in 1927 and this was the original fire
surround but we have no idea how long the calendar has been there.
If the attachment is not good enough for you
to use let me know and I will take a photo of it to see if it comes out
clearer. If I decided to part with it I will certainly let you know, at
the moment he is waiting for "pride of place" in the newly
decorated room where he was found ,so don't worry he will be treasured.
I would like to think we could keep in touch, and
I look forward to seeing "The Sentinel" on your web page. Keep
up the good work! afterall I would not have found out about F C Ransom
but for your dedication to him.
Best wishes
Pam
