 Elegant Art Sold Breakfast Cereal

In the days before color photography, artwork was absolutely essential to effectively advertise products in magazines.
During the early part of this century, the Cream of Wheat Company employed a whole stable of accomplished artists to help keep their product in the public eye.
"Artistic license" allowed for some fine works... but sometimes the connection with a hot breakfast cereal was difficult to detect!
One might wonder, for example, why artist Fletcher Ransom incorporated Cream of Wheat into a painting of men struggling with a balky horse back  in 1911.
